Leyla Babayi as Leyli

The play Leyli and Majnun will be performed in Turkish in Tabriz from February 9 to March 10. The production has been staged by the Tabriz Street Theater Group.

According to the Tabriz Theater website, after the play's rehearsals were completed in October 2012, discussions began to obtain permission for its performance.

Under the direction of writer and director Ali Asghar Milani, renowned Azerbaijani writer and poet Ülkər Ucqar participated in the rehearsals as a translator.

The play, featuring actors Rza Gulavar, Rüqayyə Vəlipur, Sanaz Nazari, Kamyar Shakibayi, Saeed Jilvegari, Leyla Babayi, and Vəhidə Nəvidi, will be staged at the Tabriz Art and Culture Complex. The role of Leyli will be played by actress Leyla Babayi.

According to Azerbaijani websites, theatrical performances in Iran’s Azerbaijani cities are usually staged in Persian, and performances in the Turkish language are rare.
