Oğuz Kaan was born on August 24, 2011.

Iranian authorities have not issued a birth certificate for a child named Oğuz Kaan, who was born in the West Azerbaijan province 3 and a half years ago.

Iranian state authorities have refused to issue a birth certificate for the child named Oğuz Kaan, born in the West Azerbaijan province, arguing that the name is "against the culture of the true Islamic community."

According to Oyan News, the Feyzullahnejad family, living in the city of Maku in West Azerbaijan, has been attempting to obtain a birth certificate for their child since August 2011, but their efforts have been unsuccessful.

Reports indicate that after the Maku branch of the Civil Registration Office refused to issue a birth certificate for Oğuz Kaan, the child's father filed a complaint with the court against the office. However, the court's ruling reflected the position of the state agency.

Oyan News published the court document issued by the 2nd division of Maku city’s general court. The document reads:

"The complainant, Sadıq Feyzullahnejad, claims that the Maku branch of the Civil Registration Office did not accept the name chosen for his son. The defendant argues that the selected name is not among those accepted by Islamic and Sharia culture and is contrary to the culture of the true Islamic community... After investigation, the court decides that the selected name is not on the approved names list and rules in favor of the defendant, dismissing the complaint."

"Oğuz Kaan’s family is concerned that if a birth certificate is not issued, they will be deprived of healthcare services and civil rights," Oyan News added.
