Oğuz Feyzullahnejad |
The Feyzullahnejad family, living in the city of Maku, could not obtain a birth certificate for their son due to his Turkish name for 5 years.
Despite their efforts and persistence over 5 years, the Feyzullahnejad family, living in the city of Maku in West Azerbaijan province, had been unable to obtain a birth certificate for their son named Oğuz Kaan until recently.
According to information circulating on social networks and a copy of the birth certificate, the 5-year-old child was recently issued a birth certificate, but under the name Oğuz rather than Oğuz Kaan.
The Maku branch of Iran’s Civil Registration Office had refused to issue a birth certificate for the name Oğuz Kaan in 2011. After this refusal, the child’s father, Sadıq Feyzullahnejad, filed a complaint with the court. However, the court's ruling confirmed the position of the state agency.
The ruling issued by the 2nd division of Maku city’s general court stated that the selected name "was not among those accepted by Islamic and Sharia culture and was contrary to the culture of the true Islamic community."
