"Home" Filmed in East Azerbaijan Province
The Turkish-language film "Home" (Ev), directed by Tabriz-born filmmaker Asghar Yusufinejad and shot in East Azerbaijan Province, is among the films competing at the prestigious 35th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.
Screened at the festival with Persian subtitles, "Home" has garnered widespread praise and admiration from Iranian film critics. Prominent critic Majid Islami described the film, which is entirely in Turkish, as a "surprise" for him.
The story of "Home" revolves around the will of a recently deceased elderly man, which stipulates that his organs must be donated. However, his daughter opposes this decision...
Although the actors in the film are not generally well-known figures in Iran, they have managed to capture the attention of critics.
"The Turkish actors in 'Home' delivered an extraordinary performance. In their first appearance on camera, they showcased talents that have been overlooked outside the capital," said another renowned film critic, Nima Hasani-Nasab.
According to reports in Shargh newspaper, some critics have objected to the film being shown in Turkish with Persian subtitles. In response, Leili Farhadpour wrote in Shargh:
"I want to address one point: the film being shown in its original language, Turkish. An artist should be able to make a film in their mother tongue... I heard some critics objected to this. Imagine if Asghar Farhadi's films were not awarded at the Oscars or Cannes because they were shown in Persian with English subtitles..."
Actors such as Mohaddeseh Heirat, Ramin Riyazi, Gholamreza Bagheri, Sedigheh Daryani, Narcis Dilaram, and Parinaz Pashazadeh starred in Yusufinejad’s film.
