9 Short Films from Iranian Azerbaijan to be Screened at a Festival in Turkey

Nine short films, both fiction and documentary, made in Turkish in Iranian Azerbaijan will be showcased at the "Borders Are Useless" special section of the Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey.

The Malatya International Film Festival will begin on November 9 and run until November 16.

Directors Riza Siyami and film critic Riza Oylum, who collaborated on preparing the films from Iran for the festival, shared this information on social media.

The films selected from Iranian Azerbaijan include: Ağlar by Ismail Munsif, Mən İsmətəm by Leyla Novruzi, Körpü by Riza Jamali, Şamdaninin Qışı by Leyla Ahadi, Közmək by Alireza Salmanpour, Doğuş by Siyamek Ata, Qarlı Damlar by Hayide Muradi, Başlanğıc Zamanı Ölmək by Hussein Asl-Abdullahi, and Səs by Erturan Najafi.

In the poster prepared for the "Borders Are Useless" section of the Malatya Festival, it is stated: "We will host short films by Turkish directors from Iran, who skillfully combine the aesthetic codes of Iranian cinema with Turkish culture."

The film Səs by director and author Erturan Najafi, in addition to being part of the "Borders Are Useless" section, will also compete in the International Short Film Competition.

Səs, shot in Urmia, recently won the Best Short Fiction Film Award at the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in the Republic of Tatarstan.
