"Stop Racism Against Turks in Iran."

Amid widespread protests in Iran, a banner reading "End Racism Against Turks in Iran!" displayed at Tabriz Stadium has captured widespread attention on social media.

This was reported by South Azerbaijan Television (Günaz TV), as well as online portals such as Araz News and Mikrofon News.

On January 5, during the match between Tractor Sazi and Tehran's Esteghlal at Tabriz Stadium, numerous Tractor fans displayed banners written in both English and Turkish and chanted Turkish slogans.

The slogans chanted at Tabriz Stadium were also broadcast on Turkish television channels, which regularly cover events in Iran.

Tractor Sazi supporters stated that they were protesting against the "racist slogans and insults" recently directed at Turks by Persepolis supporters.

Tractor Sazi Fans

In recent weeks, Tractor Sazi club had officially filed a complaint with the Iranian Football Federation's Disciplinary Committee about the slogans chanted by Tehran fans during a match.

The decision of the Disciplinary Committee left Tractor Sazi club and its supporters disappointed. The committee punished Persepolis by banning fan support for one match and imposed fines on both teams.

In a report published in June 2017, the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network, under the patronage of UEFA and FIFA, drew attention to racist chants against Turks by Iranian fans in stadiums.

The FARE document highlighted slogans such as "Turkish donkey," "Donkey, get lost!", "There is no braying from the donkeys!" and "The Turkish donkeys are silent!"
