| Said Azizi, political activist |
Said Azizi believes that the struggle for equal rights by the poor classes and women in Iran strengthens political opposition. In an interview with Voice of America, the spokesperson for the Azerbaijan Democratic Union notes that society views and supports these groups' protests as just and valid.
"In Iran, different groups, including women, workers, and non-Persian ethnic groups, organize protests intermittently. However, there are no organizations or political parties to coordinate these protests or represent these groups. Therefore, these protests do not move forward in an organized way," Said Azizi observes.
The Turkish activist, living in Sweden, does not believe that the various classes and groups emerging through mass protests can turn into a political movement.
He says that while these groups cannot create an independent political movement, nor will they join existing political currents, they can contribute to strengthening the political opposition:
"Workers in Iran are working in extremely difficult conditions. Their salaries are so low that even on paper they seem minimal, but they are not paid for months. This situation has pushed them to their limit. The oppression has gone beyond tolerance. Even when they face repression, or their comrades are arrested, they continue their protests. Society sees both the workers' and women's protests as justified and valid. People understand them."
Said Azizi adds, "Perhaps the nation does not understand some complex political issues, or not everyone supports political groups. But the issue of workers and women is so straightforward that society accepts them. No one can say they are unjust."
"In my opinion, these protests further strengthen the opposition to the government or the struggle. They prove that the opposition is right and encourage the people to support this political opposition," Said Azizi concludes.
