Fans Detained While Attempting to Enter Stadium Disguised as Men

Female fans of Tractor Sazi, the football team from Tabriz, which is known as a 'symbol of Turkish identity' in Iran, are challenging the ban on women entering stadiums by dressing in men's clothing.

On March 13, during an AFC Champions League match between Tractor Sazi and Al Jazira held in Tabriz, two women who tried to enter the stadium dressed in men's clothing were arrested by security forces.

The Tasnim News Agency, which reported the incident, did not provide further details regarding the fate of the detained female fans.

Pictures of a young woman who managed to enter the stadium were also shared on social media.

In previous years, female fans who watched Tractor Sazi games from the hills surrounding Tabriz Stadium have also been detained by Iranian police.

In addition to Iranian Azerbaijan, the Tractor Sazi club, which has a large number of supporters among Turkish people living in other regions of Iran, is regarded as a symbol of Turkish identity in the country.

In a poster published by Turkish activists, women are invited to challenge the stadium entry ban.
