In Tabriz, a number of civil activists marked International Women's Day by writing graffiti slogans on the city's walls.
According to information obtained by Voice of America from Tabriz, several young activists painted graffiti on the walls of the city to celebrate International Women's Day.
The graffiti slogans were written in Azerbaijani Turkish and included phrases such as "Freedom for Women," "We Can," and "Don't Suffocate Freedom."
Sevil Suleymani, an Iranian Azerbaijani women's rights activist, shared the graffiti slogans on her Facebook page, stating, "Women's freedom is a part of Azerbaijan's freedom. We exist, we will exist, here in Azerbaijan."
She also noted, "Azerbaijani feminism will raise its voice more and more every day."
In Iran, March 8, International Women's Day, is not officially recognized by the government.
