For more than two years, the Türk Qadını (Turkish Woman) website has been active in promoting feminism, equal rights, and raising awareness about the discrimination and challenges faced by women in Iran.
In an interview with Voice of America, the website's editor-in-chief, Simin Sabri, stated that one of their main goals is "to create content about the issues concerning Turkish women in Iran, in their own language."
The Türk Qadını website publishes news, articles, and videos on women's issues and equal rights in Turkish, Persian, and English. The team also organizes seminars and discussion rooms on the Clubhouse social network.
Simin Sabri explains, "We publish news in various fields on the website. But our main goal is to create content. As the Turkish Women's Center, we aim to reflect events from our perspective. We produce video content on topics we consider important. For example, child marriage and its harms, or the increasing mental health issues in the country and their impact on women. The core of our work is these videos. We thought that since our target audience is Turkish women, they and their children must be able to listen to discussions about their issues in Turkish."
She adds, "We distribute this content in Turkish for two main reasons. First, in remote areas and distant villages of the country, many women do not understand Persian. But nowadays, everyone has mobile phones. When they open and listen, they can understand. The second reason is respect for languages. Every ethnic community, every nation, should be able to experience this space. They should know that feminist literature, scientific discussions, and social and political debates can take place in their own language. They should see that this is possible and gradually practice engaging with it."
