Amid the mass protests led by women in Iran, students from various universities in Iranian Azerbaijan have begun demonstrations and strikes.
Reports circulating on social media indicate that student protests have been organized in several cities of Iranian Azerbaijan, including Tabriz, Urmia, and Zanjan.
According to footage and reports from South Azerbaijan Television (Günaz TV) and Araz News, protests have recently taken place at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and the Islamic Art University of Tabriz.
On September 26, students from the Faculty of Dentistry at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences held a rally to protest the mass arrests of students involved in demonstrations. It has been reported that the majority of students, except those working in emergency departments, participated in the strike.
Students from the Islamic Art University of Tabriz also condemned the widespread wave of student arrests and announced that they would not attend classes "until further notice."
Students from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences had previously held a protest last week, holding banners with slogans such as "Femicide is political" and "Hands off my body."
Since the death of young woman Mahsa Amini on September 16 while in the custody of Iran’s morality police in Tehran, mass protests have erupted across various provinces in Iran, leading to the deaths of dozens of protesters.
