In the city of Germi, located in Ardabil province, the Civil Registration Department has refused to issue an identity card for a newborn girl named "Duyğu," chosen by her family.

Sources such as Araz News and South Azerbaijan Television (Günaz TV) have reported this, citing the parents of the child, the Delir family.

One week after Duyğu's birth, her father, Adil Delir, posted on his Instagram page that he had contacted the Civil Registration Office in Germi but was unable to obtain an identity card for his daughter due to the Turkish name they had chosen.

"I have not received a proper response from the registration office for a week regarding obtaining an identity card for the name 'Duyğu.' Despite all the expenses for my daughter’s services and medical costs, I will not give up on our human and natural rights," Adil Delir shared.

Families in Iran's Azerbaijan region and Tehran, who have been unable to obtain identity cards for their children with Turkish names for months or even years, are trying to make their voices heard through social media. During this time, children are deprived of subsidized medical and social services, as indicated by Adil Delir.

Earlier, it was reported on social media that Iranian officials had refused to issue identity cards for names such as Alp Orhan, Sevgi, Yağış, Oğuz Kaan, Onur, Alparslan, Atakan, Ayıl, Hakan, Elcan, Elin, Anar, Türkay, Tarkan, Dolunay, and Volkan. Some of these names were later registered after families repeatedly contacted registration offices or the courts.

Iran's civil registration offices typically refuse to issue identity cards for certain Turkish names, citing reasons such as "foreign origin," "incompatibility with Islamic or Iranian values," or "not being on the approved list of names."
