Nigar Dabbaghi

Nigar Dabbaghi, a young protester who was temporarily released on a 400 million Toman bail after being held in custody for two weeks last November, has been informed that her court hearing will take place on February 19.

This information was shared on the X account of former political prisoner Armita Pavir and human rights platforms.

"Nigar Dabbaghi is very worried about her court session on February 19. Please, let’s be her voice as much as we can. She is only 17 years old," Armita Pavir shared on her X account.

Nigar Dabbaghi herself also provided a statement regarding her court case in a video she posted on social media.

The Tabriz General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office has charged Dabbaghi with "inciting the public to commit crimes against internal and external security," "conducting propaganda against the Islamic Republic," "insulting the sanctities of Islam," and "insulting the founder and leader of the Islamic Republic."

According to the Tavaana group, an online training institute operating in the U.S., "Nigar Dabbaghi had been voluntarily placed in Tabriz's Razi Psychiatric Hospital due to severe psychological pressure some time ago."
