Poet Ardabilli Asim Passes Away

Renowned South Azerbaijani poet Saleh Asim Kaffash, known as Ardabilli Asim, passed away yesterday, May 4, at the age of 73 in the city of Ardabil.

According to Iranian news agencies, the author of works such as Bloody Dawn, Wounded Crane, Sorrowful Smiles, Words with Embers, and Eyes with Words had been suffering from cancer since last year.

Literary figures regarded Ardabilli Asim as a powerful writer in both Turkish and Persian languages. He was especially known for his poems written in the Bahr-e Tavil style. His poems The Flower That Bloomed in Hell and The Second Bahlul, written in this style, were particularly popular among South Azerbaijani youth, who memorized them.

The funeral ceremony of the Ardabilli poet was held today, May 5, in his hometown of Ardabil.
