A documentary in Azerbaijani Turkish has been made in Iranian Azerbaijan on the topics of animal welfare and animal rights, focusing on the story of a woman who helps stray animals.

The documentary, titled I am Ismat, is directed and written by Leyla Novruzi. The Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) reported on February 29 about the film.

The film, which will soon be presented at domestic and international film festivals, is about the story of a woman named Ismat, who, despite living in a rented house in Azerbaijan with her two daughters, spends all her time caring for stray and street animals. She feeds and treats abandoned animals every day, in all seasons. Ismat often faces insults and violence from the public for this work, and as a result, she is sometimes regarded as crazy or mentally weak.

In Iran, Tabriz is recognized as a model city for activities related to helping stray animals and preventing their deaths or killings.
