Turkish activists and political organizations affiliated with the "Southern Azerbaijan National Movement" have recently expressed support for the protests of various working-class groups in Iran, who have been on strike in consecutive waves.
Following strikes by truck drivers and market workers in various regions of Iran, including Iranian Azerbaijan, teachers whose demands have not been met have also launched strike actions.
Human rights defenders and Turkish activists operating in Iranian Azerbaijan are supporting the teachers' protests through social media platforms.
Additionally, several organizations affiliated with the "Southern Azerbaijan National Movement," based in Europe and Turkey, issued a joint statement expressing their support for the struggle of the "working class who are unable to provide for their livelihoods."
The statement emphasized that the economic crisis has had the greatest negative impact on non-Persian communities.
"Iran's government has brought not only despotism but also colonialism to non-Persian nations. These nations have always been subjected to double discrimination, and their natural resources have been plundered. As a result of colonial policies, the Turkish nation has suffered the most severe damage, facing poverty, unemployment, and increasing emigration," the joint statement signed by organizations such as "Democrat," "Unity," DAK, and "Resistance" reads.
Teachers on strike in Iranian Azerbaijan are also raising the issue of education in the Turkish language in addition to economic problems.
