The Tabriz Research Institute published a constitutional draft in Persian consisting of 4 chapters, 9 sections, and 113 articles, suggesting that a federal republican system is suitable for Iran's political future.
The first article of the proposed draft states that the "Federal Republic of Iran" is a secular, democratic, and social state of law, committed to fundamental human rights.
The draft mentions that the "Federal Republic of Iran" would be formed by the union of the provinces of Azerbaijan, Ahvaz, Baluchistan, Turkmen-Sahara, Khorasan, Fars, Kurdistan, Gilan, and Lorestan, with Tehran having a special administrative status.
In the 81-page draft, it is proposed that Turkish, Arabic, Baluchi, Turkmen, Persian, Kurdish, Gilaki, and Luri be the official languages of the provinces. For the federal state, Turkish and Persian are suggested as the official languages.
Following the imposition of sanctions by the United States, particularly targeting Iran's transportation, financial, and energy sectors, debates regarding the nature of the regime that would replace the Islamic Republic have intensified.
In this regard, 10 opposition organizations in Iran issued a joint statement a few weeks ago, announcing the creation of an alliance based on the principles of republicanism, federalism, and democracy.
