An official from the East Azerbaijan province in Iran stated that 90% of the migration from the province occurred due to unemployment.
According to a report published by the local news agency Nasrnews, Javad Rahmati, the deputy governor of East Azerbaijan for construction affairs, provided information about the decline in the province's development indicators during a meeting of the Province Planning and Development Council. He mentioned that although the unemployment rate in the province is low, the reason for this is the high rate of migration from the province to other regions. Rahmati considered the high number of people leaving the province as the main cause of the decline in the province's development indicators.
He said, "When we talk about the low unemployment rate, it doesn't mean that we have very good indicators. It means that the province's workforce has migrated to Tehran and other provinces because there are no suitable job opportunities here."The official of East Azerbaijan province stated that 90% of the population's migration to other cities and provinces is due to unemployment.
"Azerbaijanis, in terms of ethics, cannot tolerate unemployment. When we look at the statistics of Isfahan province, despite the fact that it is located in a drought-prone area with limited infrastructure and resources for population accommodation, we see that this province has developed and its population has increased, and one reason for this is the migration to Isfahan," he added.
The official from East Azerbaijan also mentioned that investors are making investments in other provinces, but the East Azerbaijan province is not attractive to them.
