The Turkish-language theater play Sattar Khan: National Hero was met with widespread acclaim from viewers in both Tehran and Tabriz.
This play highlights the sacrifices of Sattar Khan in the struggle for freedom, as well as the cultural diversity and historical heritage of Iran.
The play was initially performed in Tabriz for 20 days, with 25,000 spectators attending, before being included in the Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran.
The debut of the play in Tehran was also met with great enthusiasm, showing that Turkish-language theater can attract a large audience in Iran.Yaqoub Sadiq Jamali, the writer, director, and producer of the play, told Anadolu: "This play tells the story of the life of Sattar Khan, one of our most important heroes. It was performed 22 times in Tabriz, with around 25,000 people watching it. Now, for the first time, we are performing it in Tehran, and all tickets have been sold."
He also added: "We would love to perform this play in Turkey and Azerbaijan as well. 2025 has been declared as the joint cultural year of Iran and Turkey, and in this context, we plan to stage the play in Turkey and Azerbaijan with the support of Iran's Cultural Vice Presidency. I believe it will be well received in Turkey and Azerbaijan too, as there are no language barriers."
Mohammad Zirak, the actor who plays Sattar Khan, also stated: "Turks are one, there is no difference. There is no difference between Tabriz, Baku, Urmia, and Ankara. It is an honor for us to perform this play there as well."
