A representative from Tabriz in the Iranian Parliament highlighted the sensitivities surrounding the name of the "Turkish-Speaking Regions" faction, stating that the Presidium of the Parliament does not officially recognize its name.
Shahabeddin Bimaghadar, representative of Tabriz, Azarshahr, and Usku in the Iranian Parliament, referred to the sensitivities around the name of the "Turkish-Speaking Regions" faction, saying:
"The Presidium of the Parliament does not officially recognize the name of this faction. I have recently followed up on this matter and sent letters to various organizations to seek their opinions on the name of this faction."
According to the ISNA news agency, he also addressed some proposals to rename the "Turkish-Speaking Regions" faction to the "Northwest Iran" faction, emphasizing:
"This is not feasible because Turkish speakers live throughout the country, including North Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, Isfahan, and other regions. For this reason, we cannot limit this faction to the northwest of the country."
Bimaghadar also commented on the appointment of Turkish ministers in the cabinet, stating:
"I and other representatives have pursued the appointment of Turkish-speaking ministers for the Ministries of Science and Energy. We proposed a candidate for the Ministry of Science to the government, and it was accepted. However, certain issues prevented the introduction of this candidate as the nominee for the Ministry of Science. Nevertheless, we are continuing our efforts to advocate for the appointment of Turkish-speaking ministers."
It is worth noting that the "Turkish-Speaking Regions" faction is one of the factions of the 10th term of the Iranian Parliament, formed on October 30, 2016, with the participation of 100 Turkish representatives in the country.
