On October 26, thousands of supporters of the Tractor Sazi team chanted slogans in protest against the ban on women entering stadiums in Iran at the Sahand Stadium in Tabriz.
Chanting "In Sahand Stadium, the place of Turkish girls is empty!" and singing songs, Tractor Sazi fans drew the attention of various socio-political groups in Iran with their support for gender equality.
Hundreds of fans also sang the lyrics "The girls of Azerbaijan, the stars of the skies, are waiting for the stadium paths to open for them..." in song form during the event.
The supporters of Tabriz's Tractor Sazi football team, recognized as a symbol of "Turkish identity" in Iran, have previously chanted slogans and displayed banners advocating for education in the Turkish language, supporting political prisoners, and protesting against the "drying up of Lake Urmia."
Last March, two women were arrested by security forces while attempting to enter the Tractor Sazi-Al-Jazira match in Tabriz, disguised in men's clothing as they tried to gain access to the stadium.
